"Building Community. Strengthening Partnerships"
Progress in Wells-Goodfellow
This fall marks important steps forward in our demonstration neighborhood at Wells-Goodfellow. Together with community partners, schools, and nonprofits, we are advancing both short-term initiatives and long-term planning that will build momentum for inclusive revitalization. Each project builds on the shared goal of creating healthier, safer, and more connected neighborhoods for families to thrive.
Current Initiatives
Healthcare Access – IFM Family Medicine is preparing to launch a clinic at the Pierre Laclede Academy this fall. The program has already been introduced at the school, and formal approval by the St. Louis School District is expected in October. This clinic will serve students first and gradually expand to their families, laying the foundation for long-term community health.
Arts Programming – Craft Alliance is planning an arts program at Pierre Laclede Academy that will bring creative expression and enrichment opportunities to students. The initiative will help spark imagination, build confidence, and encourage collaboration among young people.
Youth Leadership – A scouting program at Pierre Laclede Academy is being discussed and is expected to start later this year, offering leadership development, outdoor experiences, and community engagement for local youth.
Housing Support – Discussions continue with Covenant House on expanding services for unhoused young people in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood. Their potential presence in the area could provide safety, shelter, and new opportunities for teenagers who need support the most.
Looking Ahead
Community Center – Planning continues around the long-term vision for a neighborhood community center that could provide services ranging from job training to health support and cultural programming. Community input will be key as plans take shape.
Business Development – Work is underway on an outline to attract and support new businesses in Wells-Goodfellow. Small business growth is essential to creating jobs, revitalizing storefronts, and building a stronger local economy along MLK Drive and surrounding streets.
Continuing Partnerships
Our summer MBA interns from Washington University are extending their support into the school year, helping North of Delmar expand digital tools, communications, and community engagement resources. Their work ensures consistency, momentum, and added capacity as new initiatives take root.
